Call of Duty 7 by Treyarch: Vietnam and your wish list

Earlier this month we reported some news about Call of Duty 7, and that it was rumored the game will be handled by Treyarch, this was immediately met with some upset from certain gamers.

Some people have had bad experiences with Call of Duty games handled by Treyarch; one user even went as far to say they “Won’t make that mistake twice”. What’s your opinion on the Call of Duty and Treyarch marriage?

In some recent news on worthplaying.com, they confirmed that the Call of Duty franchise has surpassed worldwide retail sales of $3 billion. This is a massive achievement, and the latest game (MW2) has continued the success by attracting gamers in large numbers.

So what’s next for Call of Duty, and will COD 7 be set in Vietnam? We will keep you updated on its development, but for now lets talk about COD 7 expectations.

What would your wish list be for Call of Duty 7? Would you want the game set in Vietnam?

    #1:
Due the fact that the war was/is disputed:

    - French Far East Expeditionary Corps campaign
    - Vietminh/Vietnamese People’s Army/NLF campaign
    - AVRN campaign
    - US Forces campaign

    maybe DLC-expansions with a:
    - SKorean Army mini-campaign
    - Australian/NZ mini-campaign
    - Pathet Lao mini-campaign
    - Royal Lao Army mini-campaign
    - “air-defence” mini-campaign with Chinese/Soviet advisors
    - Cambodian Army under General Lol Nol mini-campaign
    - Red Khmer mini-campaign
    - General Vang Pao’s secret army mini-campaign

If CoD 7 would depict fairly all parties involved in the conflict, then it would be far ahead of those Indochina war-movies, who ignorantly leave out the “other” perspective.

    #2:
    -native voice-acters, please!

It was obvious in CoD-WaW, that the Germans voices came from American voice-acters. (Well, I only played the English version of the game.)

    #3:
    - all characters in the game should speak their native language + translated subtitles

    #4:
    - that Nazi-Zombie mode must not return.

    #5:

    - Too many people [especially in the USA/Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia] are still very sensitive about the Indochina conflict. Realistic & unbiased depiction is abolut neccessary.

    #6:

-no endless spawning of AI enemies, please!

    #7:

    - a documentary about the development of the conflict from the WW2 until the late 80s. Vietnamese-Cambodian War; Sino-Vietnamese Border-war should also be included.

    #8:

-dedicated servers & co-op mode would be fine

    #9:

for Laptop-Gamers, who sometimes hook on an external display:
-resolution should be setted externaly/prior start of the game.

Both are excellent companies. The problem with Treyarch is that they are FORCED to continue with WWII wars and Vietnam (that most players are bored with), while Infinity Ward is getting the best piece of the cake, which is modern warfare.

On the other hand, COD4’s campaign was rather boring at times, COD 6’s campaign has a rather poor story and is way too short. COD 5 used the formula that made Call of Duty famous; hectic warfare. One chapter of the campaign in which you fight the Japanese in the trenches+tree+ground gives me for example more thrill than walking slowly (almost scripted) inside a airport building shooring random people who have no weapons(COD 6) or crawling with some sniper gun through the grass (COD 4), just to give you an idea.

COD 4 never offered coop, COD 6 doesn’t offer LAN, while COD 5 offered both, a fun zombie game and a more authentic story.

Most people however don’t have a real opinion, they often copy comments of others like parrots.

    • Treyarch Sucks says:

That’s the only thing WaW had going for it, zombies. And I can’t even believe you are saying that the CoD6 campaign is boring. Also, you say a more authentic story? Yeah, just like all the other 200 WWII games with an authentic story. CoD4 has a great multiplayer and thats why Treyarch had to base WaW off if it, but somehow they managed to make it terrible. I hope Treyarch just stops making games to save themselves the embarrassment.

In my opinion I think that infinity ward they should STOP making WW2 and Vietnam games. I’m sick of playing in that era. I like playing in a more modern enviroment. Not in the past and not too far in the future. I like using guns that are currently being used by the armed forces and the terroist. I happen to love COD 4 and COD MW2 but I really didn’t like COD WAW as much. I owned WAW and I did enjoy the online and nazi zombie but, I did get bored of the old guns and old old era maps. I can’t say that WAW was is a bad game, it was pretty good game
and I did have a good time with it. BUT I didn’t buy this game expecting an ok game, even tho I didnt like the idea of it not being Modern Warfare. After I played COD 4 it became one of my FAVs of all time. I wouldn’t even put WAW in my top 100. I played COD 4-MW2 and the whole reason I picked up COD 4 was it’s modern presence. I think COD 4 is a classic. WAW was a let down but still solid title and COD MW2 is great but also has potential to be to be a classic Based on what they do with DLC. Overall treyarch made a good game but Infinity Ward made two great ones. If treyarch made the next game I don’t think it would stop me from buying it but my expectation would be much lower because I hate playing games set I’m time eras before I was born I already passed my history classes. MW is the way to go but WAW is ok to.

  4. Matt Porter says:

They should not make it in Vietnam. They should make it like in the future with future weapons or a better modern warfare! If they make it in Vietnam I’m probably not going to bye it and they will lose a lot of buyers from seeing a bunch comments seeing in what they say. If they make it the other way like i said i think that they will get a lot of buyers and i will bye it.

    • lol says:

bye ? xd u mean buy ,,, but i don’t agree with you.
i would want it in vietnam or ww2, now i heard medal of honor is also going modern . there is no one left making ww2 fps anymore.. :( i really enoy ww2 ….. we got to have something from the ww2 genre !

  5. jhkl says:

go ahead and do vietnam. I thought of WAW as okay an MW2 as fantastic. I think that a time period in between those will be incredibile and sell many copies

  6. jhkl says:

i also definetly agree with anyone that said future warfare. how awesome would that be, running around with lasers and stuff.

  7. austin says:

i want it to be in
    1. vetinam
    2. world war 1
    3. revoluntionary war
    4. korean war

  8. jake says:

what about modern warfare but rather than a special operations sorta small team thing, have it as like world war 3! then again i like the stealth of the spec ops and stuff so you could start with like a TF141 going in and then have a whole freakin army comin in to back them up.

  9. michael says:

    zombie mode must returnes and
    viatnam likes eme great

    I hope i can byu soon:D

  10. Schroeder57 says:

Ok what I would like on cod7 would be a zombie type game like on WAW but not at all like spec ops.
I want the multiplayer the main focus of the game if the main focus is zombies I won’t even buy it, even tho I love zombies online
Vietnam sounds good same with WW1 but WW1 might be boring without all the cool guns, love AK-47, M-16 cool guns
custom killstreaks, no nuke, different perks keep stopping power, treyarch needs to work on the multiplayer , love MW2 multiplayer, who cares about campain we want multiplayer and a zombie type game but not zombies
I really like the idea of alians, or just Japanese soliders running at you with a sword, again not the same different windows mabe doors, break down the door, ak-47 would rock with zombies, and I would like challenges for zombies , and attachments for the guns, like in multiplayer but in zombies, earn the guns but if you die so manny times you lose your guns but you can gain them back again
I want lots of trophies too, don’t want campain to hard on veteran on MW2 I could barly get past the first 2, but WAW was good
in the game we NEED automatic guns not like in WAW – I hated the semi auto, gwher, STV and so on but now I think you know what I mean …. I want multiplayer.
