Dell Mini 10V Running Google Chrome OS: Install Instructions
By: Peter Chubb | November 29, 2009 | 1 CommentSo much has been said about Google Chrome since it’s unveiling a couple of weeks ago; the biggest shock was the fact that it would not run on all machines. We also found out that the new operating system would only run on an SSD, but there have been some workarounds on the test version.
I4U learned from Liliputing that if you own a Dell Mini 10V, then you could have yourself a working copy of Google Chrome OS. The way to do this is by using the source code that was released a few days ago. Doug Anson from Dell managed to hack everything that was needed to run the OS.
The first thing you need to do is download the file here; this size of the file is 8GB. Once you have downloaded the file, you then need to dump the image on to a flash drive and then plug the flash drive into your Dell Mini 10.
With the Mini 10 running Google Chrome OS boot time is about 12 seconds, for points to become visible, then this will be a little longer. If you do not have a Dell Mini 10 then there is still a chance for you to get your other model of netbook running on Chrome OS, just follow these instructions from Daemon News.
