Cyber-Black Monday: Official start of 2009 online shopping season
Filed under: News

Tomorrow is November 30, 2009 and is the day that Cyber Monday falls on. This event is said to be the official start of the online shopping season, like Black Friday is considered to be the start of the high street shopping season. This year is expected to be the best yet, but we will have to wait and see.
Cyber Monday is always the first day following Black Friday in the U.S. Cyber Monday only started off as a small event for shoppers who had to go back to work after Thanksgiving and Black Friday and try and get the last deals online. However, the online shopping event has evolved into an entity of its own.
Cyber Monday was a name thought up by Shop.org back in 2005 after 77 percent of online retailers reported an increase in sales figures the Monday after Thanksgiving in 2004. It was obvious to most that shoppers would return to looking on the Internet for more deals following Black Friday.
Retailers saw this as an ideal time to try and offload those items that they could not shift on Black Friday. Cyber Monday will be busier than ever this year as people look to grab themselves a bargain as they have less money to spend, why purchase a Christmas present at a normal retail price when you can get yourself a discount before.
