After Black Friday 2009: Preliminary sales results
Filed under: News

In the build up to Black Friday 2009 we did not know how well the yearly event would go, but it seems that things got off to a great start. According to reports, sales started early in-store and online and were slightly up over last year. Most retailers reported strong sales with laptops, TVs and Zhu-Zhu pets proving the most popular.
According to a report from TIME, the biggest reason why retailers noticed an increase in sales for Black Friday 2009 was due to the sales starting earlier than ever this year. Some retailers opened their doors as early as midnight; the normal opening time is 6 a.m., so allowed for a more steady flow of shoppers.
PayPal reported that there was a 25% increase in he amount of money being moved around on Thanksgiving Day compared to the same period last year; this is according to a statement from PayPal. The news that sales being up this Black Friday will be great news for retailers, one that they hope will continue until Christmas.
If you did not get a chance to get the bargain that you wanted then there is still time, there is still the Saturday sales as well as Cyber Monday. We wonder if these two days will follow the trend of yesterday’s Black Friday and experience strong sales as well?
Let us know if you were one of the many who braved the elements to get yourself a bargain or have you been waiting for Cyber Monday?

Cyber monday, although i know the only true sale items will be the items that did not sell well during the year. The crowds look like hords of brainwashed zombies. Stop spending money you dont have, your debt will be here tomorrow and for years to come. Cancel those credit cards and spend cash only, Were all doomed anyway, so f**k it right, WRONG.
I braved the Black Friday sales for the first time in years. It was a actually fun, and although I spent a ton, it was a fraction of what I would have spent without the sale prices. I went to Wal-mart in particular, and within 2 hours, everything was wiped out. I went to a second Wal-mart around 10 am and you wouldn’t have even known there was a Black Friday sale! The other stores I went to had a steady stream of shoppers, and like Walmart, everything was pretty much gone as far as Black Friday deals go.
We see Black Friday and every day after as “Buy-Nothing” days. If more people did that, the retailers would have to slash their prices ALL year to keep people coming and yes, jobs would be lost but eventually employers would get the connection between their workers and their bottom line: workers ARE the consumers so every time a company lays off workers, they are reducing the number of people that will buy their product!
Stop the madness-BUY NOTHING!
You couldnt be anymore wrong if they bought nothing, then the economy would pretty much go down alot! Those sells help alot! So encourage the madness and buy!!!
