Sony PS3 and PSN: Terms of Service Changed

Sony PS3 owners should have received an email today, which spoke about a change of service for the PlayStation Network. Most users would just skip over this email, or just delete it but you may want to check something before you do that.

If you have owned the PS3 since the beginning you may have collected two or three PS3’s by now, we personally have three systems. With each new hardware change, we bought the latest model (last one was a PS3 Slim).

The terms of service change is bad news for users with multiple PS3s, and traders because you can now only have up to 3 PS3s on one account. If you’re a user with a shared group or a trader, then you can only share games on up to three PS3s from now on.

You can head over to playstation.com for the full usage terms, Have a read, and then share your thoughts in the comments.

Sony suck, I’m surprised they haven’t gone the whole hog and made people pay for games they’ve already downloaded on their other consoles.

I hate it when companies change their terms, sure acts such as these should be illegal and I look forward to some enterprising law firm one day challenging them.

@ Slippy Sloppy don’t blame Sony, blame all the sharers and traders that exploited Sony’s VERY generous gesture to allow you to use the same download on 5 PS3’s.

There aren’t many people that have a genuine reason to own more than 3 PS3’s at once – and if you’re replacing one you just have to remember to deactivate it on your account first.

This function was NEVER intended for people to pay a 5th of the price of a download title by sharing it with friends. Does Microsoft allow you to download your purchases to 5 different 360’s using 5 different Live accounts?

My guess is that the people that will complain most vocally about this change are the people that have been ’stealing’ PSN content…
