The Black Friday 2009 sales should see a 16 percent increase in shoppers when compared to the same Friday in 2008, this is according to Survey that was released today. The National Retail Federation carried out the Survey.

Over Black Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 134 million people are expected to shop. That’s an increase of 6 percent from 2008, which 128 million went shopping looking for deals. Tracy Mullin – Retail Federation President – said, “retailers still have a few tricks up their sleeves”, and shoppers could be persuaded with “huge sales on popular items”.

The survey also found that 28.8 percent would shop at grocery stores, 36.3 percent at clothing stores, and 41 percent will shop at electronic stores. With online deals starting early in 2009, and being pushed harder than before, the survey found 27.6 percent said they will shop online.

Of those surveyed, 28.2 percent said they will be looking for deals in stores between 7 and 9am, 28.8 percent said between 4 and 6am, while 10.3 percent said from midnight.
