Verizon Wireless: Challenge to Sprint’s ads, watchdog intervenes

Seems like Verizon Wireless cannot stay out of the news lately over ads, this time not about its ads against AT&T. A national advertising watchdog has asked for Sprint to drop its ads, where it states that they are “America’s most dependable 3G network.” This is according to a recent report from AP.

The reason why the watchdog intervened was due to Verizon challenging Sprints claims on its ad. The reason why the watchdog decided to side with Verizon was due to the fact that the carrier dropped less calls than Sprint did.

Sprint has hit back; they said that there is a number of test so more than one should be reviewed. Some of the watchdog’s findings could have been affected by a number of things, such as faulty cell towers or bad weather.

AP say that Sprint are still standing by its claim and said that they will take it to the National Advertising Review Board for appeal. Verizon Wireless recently came out of court smiling, after AT&T’s lawsuit had backfired on them. This was due to a number of Verizon TV ads, which showed them to have a better 3G-network coverage than AT&T.
