Xbox 360 Live Bans: It wasn’t ‘a million’ users – Microsoft

More on the Xbox 360 Live bans ’saga’ now, as Microsoft has come out stating that the alleged ‘one million’ figure for the recent modded console bans has been totally exaggerated.

As reported from Eurogamer, Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox Live, has said that the company didnt actually release the exact figure of how many users were bans – pointing a finger at InformationWeek, the original source for the figure.

So if it is not ‘one million’, then how many we wonder? Can’t be too far off that we reckon, Microsoft should just let everyone know full details of all the bans.

Whitten also talked about Facebook on 360 and MW2, but we’re sure you are much more concerned about the 360 bans.

Why should MS reveal anything about the number of banned consoles? Its irrelevant. Anyone who mods their console is in violation of the terms of use, and is liklely to have their console banned. Thats it.

And by the way – those with banned consoles can always buy another xbox and play using their existing accounts – its only the console being banned, not the account.

Very fair if you ask me – and much more so than apple who brick IPhones which are modded.
