Windows 8: Scheduled for 2012?

Its just over a month since we saw the official release of Windows 7, however we are already beginning to hear information regarding the next major OS release from the company, this next OS is codenamed “Windows 8″.
Information regarding the release of the next OS from Microsoft has recently emerged following a roadmap image which showed up on SlashGear today, on this roadmap it shows that ~2012 we will see a major release, this major release is codenamed Windows 8.
Most Microsoft OS’s are delayed, therefore there is a good chance that this 2012 date won’t actually go ahead, however at least we are getting a rough idea of Microsoft’s future plans.
