You will need to brace yourself for this one, because it seems a little hard to believe. Following on from the news earlier today about Best Buy’s doorbuster deals, we have since learned a little more about one of these deals.

The Sony VGN-NW235F/W is listed in the Black Friday 2009 sales at Best Buy here, you can clearly see it’s listed for $399.99, although there is a limit of one per customer and a minimum of 10 per store.

When looking at the normal product page on Best Buy, they have the Sony VGN-NW235F/W listed at $999.99; you can view that page here. Are we missing something, or is this one of the best laptop deals we have seen for Black Friday 2009?

Sony’s VGN-NW235F/W laptop features 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 memory, an Intel Pentium T4300 processor, 800MHz frontside bus, 15.5-inch LCD widescreen display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, and a lot more.

Have a look at the above links, and let us know what you think about this Black Friday deal. This looks really impressive from what we can see.

Yes, im actually purchasing this computer on friday. Its an awesome deal BUT you have to realize it is only a Pentium Dual Core T4300 and NOT Core 2 DUO.

Core 2 Duo would be faster and has more cache, and other T4300 Pentium Dual Cores are around 400-500 dollars, so its not technically a Steal!

It doesnt seem to have an HDMI port either.

But still a worthy, reliable laptop. Just Recently SONY was rated the top 4 or 5 laptop brands that has the highest reliability, and HP is lagging behind in Last place, 2nd to last is gateway. 1st Place is ASUS.

You are definitely missing something! That link above does show that laptop listed at $999 but that price is rediculous. I couldn’t find that laptop on bestbuys site without following the link above. There is no way this laptop would sell for $999. You can buy a better sony laptop than this one right now for $650

It is a good deal but not a steal as mentioned above. It doesn’t have a core duo processor. The link above is almost the exact same sony except with a duo and its only $650.

The black friday sony is a good deal and decent laptop but certainly, your not getting a $600 deal, maybe $150-$200 off

Thanks for keeping it real Luke. Seems like someone (original poster)is also part of BestBuys Black Friday hype campaign. The fact that local and national news stations are running segments asking if the deals being promoted are all they claim to be tells me there have been a large number of complaints. Buyer be ware!!

Single, not dual core processor. It’s a nice box but it’s made for this sale, not a particularly valuable purchase. It’s a nice box for someone wanting a cheap laptop. RAM is good but a Pentium is a battery hungry device. Expect 2 hours or less on this.

    • dontbfooled says:

what a stupid marketing scam!! for example best buy advertises garmin 205 for 99$ saying that you will save 100$ on black friday when in reality the product normally costs only 116$ so there’s really only a saving of 17$ how do they get away with that?

  4. Onurb says:

Strange, the flyer/website says it’s a dual core processor.

  5. Rocky S says:

It IS a dual core, so all you ppl saying it’s a single core are wrong. I do find it funny that the site says “Not available yet” but it retails at $999… Weird. Nonetheless it’s a VAIO 15″ with a decent size laptop and good RAM, so what if the graphics card is shit. Buy a nice one for $100-$150, that makes the total price $550 max! Not a bad deal IMO and the NW series is nice. The keys are just like macbooks and the touchpad is better than any other. I’m getting this and the HP Desktop (AMD Athlon x4 Quad Core 1tbHD 8gnRAM 20″ HD LCD) for less than a grand together! Definitely a good deal.

  6. The BFAD does not indicate anywhere the original price of this laptop so don’t get your panties in a ruffle. Best Buy is not making any claims that you will be saving hundreds of dollars. If you’re a smart buyer, read the specs, if it meets your tech needs then compare prices on various websites like Pricegrabber then decide how much you are saving. Also, what is up with folks complaining that saving $100-200 is not a good deal?? How much you want off?? Shop ebay and see how much you can get off the price. I bet it will be about the same. Look in the mirror and ask yourselves who the real thieves are…

  7. Micah mathai says:

Well its an integrated graphics card so i doubt you can change it. Actually i dont think youll be able to. But its still a nice comp. Im going to best buy at 1am to try nd get this.

  8. Hartgolf says:

I thought that this Sony nw235 was only available in store, but bought one this morning on line-bought it a 6:00 AM-so they are selling them for $399.00 right now!!!

  9. susan says:

I just bought this online at bestbuy.com. You don’t have to get up early to pick it up. However, I just received an email stating it is backordered and will take 1-2 weeks to ship. I am not that savvy of a techie, I went with cnet’s recommendation.

  10. Scottie says:

Actually, if you look at the specs page on best buy for this item, under where it talks about the graphics card, it says it has an HDMI port. I was lucky enough to pick this up online and I’m hoping for a port. If anyone picks this up tomorrow I would love to know. Thanks and good luck.
