KT gets iPhone Exclusivity in South Korea

KT have been given the iPhone exclusivity in South Korea, this is just the latest Asian country to get the Apple smartphone. KT will begin offering the 16GB and 32GB versions of the iPhone 3GS on November 28, they will also be offering the old iPhone 3G as well.

According to Yahoo News, KT was given the go ahead by South Korean regulators last week, after Apple was offered a license to operate in their country. Apple had to answer a number of questions over privacy concerns, which the regulators are now satisfied with.

Apple will enter a tough market in South Korea, which as we know is dominated by Samsung and LG. However, we have to remember that the iPhone is the most popular handset right now and has been for the past couple of years, it is for that reason that LG and Samsung will start to worry.

The Apple iPhone is now available in more than 80 countries, the most recent being China. China Unicom has the iPhone exclusivity deal, although Apple had to sacrifice its built-in Wi-Fi to comply with regulations.

Only Korean citizens can reserve the iPhone and purchase one. There is no way for any legally working foreigner in Korea to reserve the iPhone. The online resservation system refuses to accept foreigner ID numbers.
