Internet Explorer (IE9): Hardware changes for extra speed

It has been reported that Microsoft’s upcoming Internet Explorer 9 browser will make several tweaks to the PC hardware, in order to boost overall speed performance of the software.

As reported from Computer World, Microsoft are planning to make the PC’s graphics processor handle tasks relating to image and text rendering, placing more emphasis on the GPU and freeing up space for performance on the CPU.

Microsoft won’t be the only company taking this step, as ComputerWorld reports that Mozilla and Opera are also planning similar moves with their respective browsers.

Only last week, we told you how Microsoft are planning big changes to the JavaScript engine, so they are clearly spending a lot of time with IE9.

Let us know your thoughts on this. Full article over at ComputerWorld.
