
Crib Recall Expected: Cribs with Dropdown Sides
By: Peter Chubb | November 23, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe have recently learned that the Consumer Product Safety Commission is about to announce what is thought to be one of the largest crib recalls. The cribs that will be affected by the expected recall are those with dropdown sides.
According to ABC News, the specific models are not yet known but would not be the first time that cribs with dropdown sides have been in the spotlight. In the past two years, five million cribs have been recalled and the CPSC are now considering a total ban on cribs with the dropsown sides.
The most recent recall was last year, Delta Enterprises had to recall 1.6 million of their older cribs with the drop-down sides, this was due to two infants losing their lives. The problem was due to safety pegs either dropping out or becoming worn.
The reason why infants’ lives are put at risk is because their heads can get stuck in the dropdown side, this would then cause the child to choke. This is just want happened to 10-month old Tyler Jonathan. Read the full story over at momsword.org
