Black Friday 2009 sales bring bargain-hungry customers
By: Daniel Chubb | November 22, 2009 | Leave a CommentThe U.S. holiday shopping season will officially start on Black Friday, Nov. 27 2009. Retailers are expecting millions of customers, which are even more bargain-hungry than ever before, thanks to the hard times we’ve been through over the previous months.
According to an article on reuters.com, customers will be “less frightened” and experts are predicting a strong turnout for the Black Friday 2009 sales. The article also states that industry experts expect consumers will “still remain cautious”, which shouldn’t mean a bumper holiday season.
Retailers have learned well from past special shopping events, and they know that special promotion days drive big sales. This was shown on Veteran’s Day earlier this month.
In 2009 we have seen Black Friday ads leaked much sooner than normal, and this is in the hope of driving higher sales. Retailers do not want a repeat of 2008; this was the worst holiday season in decades.
