The $2,000 Apple Tablet
By: Peter Chubb | November 20, 2009 | 1 CommentWe mentioned in an earlier article that the constant delays for the release of the much rumored Apple Tablet, has lead PC World to question if the device ever existed. We decided to look a little deeper into this, and it seems that the Apple Tablet will still happen next year with two models available, one of which will cost $2000.
According to a recent report from Computer World, this idea of a luxury tablet PC would certainly fit in to Apple’s “historical pattern.” Asian component makers have confirmed that Apple have delayed their tablet device yet again, we will now have to wait until the second half of 2010.
There are a number of reasons for this; one is because Apple plans to launch a smaller cheaper version of its Tablet PC. This one will be a 9.7-inche and will feature an OLED display; this was according to a recent report from DigiTimes.
According to DigiTimes sources, if Apple were to make a luxury Tablet device, then the cost would be from $1,200 to $1700, which is just to make the device. So this would mean that Apple would need to sell the Tablet for around $2,000. That is such a huge ask we do not even spend that on a notebook.
