Sony Online Service: Based on PSN, will compete with Apple iTunes
By: Alan Ng | November 20, 2009 | Leave a CommentSony has recently announced that they are planning to launch a service called ‘Sony Online Service’ that will compete with Apple iTunes and offer customers music, movies and books.
As reported from Apple Insider, the new service was announced yesterday during a management strategy meeting in Tokyo. Interestingly, the service will be ‘based’ on the current Playstation Network – which is the online platform for their Playstation 3 console, used to play online games, access the PS store, community features and so on.
One example of how the store work, is that it will let you upload videos from say a camcorder directly onto your ‘profile’, along with instant uploads from cameras and so on.
Sounds adventurous for Sony, so it will be interesting to hear more on the service when they decide to announce full details.
