BlackBerry Curve 8530: Hands-on Video

By: Jamie Pert | November 20, 2009 | 1 Comment

Cnet have recently been lucky enough to get their hands-on the Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8530, this handset is not a high-end model but is still pretty impressive.

The main areas where you can tell cuts have been made are with the overall build quality of the device, also the keyboard is not as good as some other models and the display is not as clear as some models (only offering a resolution of 320×240).

The handset does however offer dedicated media control buttons and a 3.5 mm headset jack, also the handset has integrated WiFi, other connectivity options include Bluetooth, 3G and GPS.

All in all the handset seems to be a pretty good messaging device, however those of you wanting a great web experience and a super-clear display this handset is not for you.

You can see Cnet’s fully detailed article here, which includes a full gallery of images which can be seen here, also remember to check out the video below.

I swear some of you people get so defensive. It's a "starter" or "entry level" device because things like the screen and camera are of lesser quality than devices like the Bold. It doesn't have the leather. It's not designed to be a top-end model. It's like your everyday car as opposed to a Ferrari. Adam's not saying good drivers only drive Ferraris, but if you haven't driven before, you're probably better off getting the Toyota. If you haven't had a smart phone before and you want the basic functionality it provides, this device is probably your best bet. My parents don't even have cameras on their phones. If they wanted to get a BlackBerry to browse the web, they should probably get this device.
