Nokia N900: Release date update – December
Filed under: Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

We have an update to give you now, on the Nokia N900, which has been delayed in Europe. As most of you will know by now, the phone is now available in the U.S but we have been informed that the Nokia N900 will reach customers in Europe from December 3rd onwards.
The news comes from MobilePhonesDirect, who have now started to inform customers via email of the new shipping date. They operate Nokia Retail and have been informed by Nokia themselves that they will have stock ready to ship to customers on December 3rd.
They also state that pre-order customers are on a priority list for the Nokia N900, as soon as stock arrives, but somehow, I’m not sure customers feel so special anymore.
Still, a solid date is good news for customers waiting for an update. Let us know your thoughts on the update. Better late than never eh?

Nokia N900: Release pushed back further, due to high demand
Nokia N900: UK release date confirmed by Nokia
Nokia N900: UK Release Date pushed back to November
Nokia N900: Release delayed yet again

This is utterly retarded.
1) I thought it would have made more sense to launch in Europe first – at least Nokia have some kind of market share and carriers willing to bundle the phone (hint – more affordable for consumers = more sales).
2) Launching in the US first with no carrier means consumer has to pay full cost up-front ($650 approx.) = less sales.
3) This product has been delayed how many times? Mid-October then End-October then Mid-November THEN End-November THEN December 3rd. So close to Chrsitmas means people are more interested in buying presents – the last thing you want to do is spend money on a phone you MIGHT get at the end of the year! If I had pre-ordered this I would be extremly miffed about this because…
4) Some sexy phones are due out early next year (SE X10, Motorola Droid) Android phones with decent CPU speeds and larger screens. I’ve waited since October to get my hands on N900 what’s a couple more months to wait for these new phones to be released? If you pre-ordered the N900 maybe cancel your order and wait a little bit more?
5) The only remaining selling point (for me) of the N900 is the TV-Out feature. It runs Linux, is open source and means I can use it as portable computer. Android runs Linux(kind of), is open-source, has a head start on availablity of applications and higher-specced hardware.
6) This “announce a release date then actually ship much, much later” is a crappy tactic to stall consumers to buy a competitors product. Apple and Microsoft are big practioners of this and is quite frankly an uder-handed way of “selling” somethin. Nokia seems to think it is a good idea now. I am two-minds about getting the N900 – should I boycott thier phone and get an alternative?
Nice going Nokia – the perfect way to kill a really good product – “corporate decision making” at it’s worst.
Is the N900 going to be worth the lengthy wait, the delayed release dates, being pushed to the back of the line behind US, Asia (Antarctica?) and everything else?
I’ve been waiting with anticipation since the N900 was first announced but these repeated delays are more than ridiculous! It’s almost two months late now, and there’s still no reason to believe I can get one before Christmas. The December 3rd release date is more vapour than a commitment. If MPD does have the phone in stock on that day, will I be able to walk into a store and pick it up then?
I think I might just treat myself to whatever is the best phone out there next week, waiting for Nokia to pull their fingers out is an excruciatingly slow process and one I am growing sick of.
I am not gonna wait any more. All the positive focus Nokia gained in october due to the N900, they have lost by now. Nokia, you have failed.
The repeated delays with no explanation are a real concern. Than add that the apps on Ovi are sub-par to itunes and andriod; what’s the compelling reason to get the n900?
Oh great … a concern troll
I too have been waiting for this phone. I even bought an N97 second hand to get used to the type of phone. But I’m not a patient person, and if the release date is put back again, I’m going to get the iPhone instead!
when this phone was showcased in july i was sold completely and pre-ordered as soon as possible, but these because of these delays i just cancelled my pre-order and i’m now getting the iPhone3GS. I don’t mind usually mind delays but i’ve been without a phone for 2months now and my social life has declined considerably! if nokia actually SAID why it the N900 is CONSTANTLY being delayed in detail i might reconsider but they’ve pushed my patience to far
I agree with all those who r annoyed. I think it is not really the way a gigantic cellular company should do and was really not expecting this from NOKIA. If they are doing this to get more attention then it is really a cheap way of doing it and rather i would say that may have lost more then half of their N900 customers by doing this thumbs down to NOKIA….
hmm maybe you should try see the reason ?

some of the reasons are the network aint compatible and they dont wanna sell a pertly deffect device before its fixed anyways it looks like theyl release at december
why on earth would a phone that is made in Europe, be released, first in the USA.
Is it me or is that great business sense—–not!!!!!
