HTC Dragon Google Android Phone: Another iPhone Contender

Who would have thought that it has been almost a month since all the hype of the Motorola Droid begun, most of its success was due to its Google Android 2.0 OS. The Droid was meant to be a huge competitor to the Apple iPhone, but this was a long list of Smartphones that failed to do so. There is another cell phone waiting in the wings though that is the HTC Dragon.

We have heard it all before, there are rumors that the new HTC Dragon, also known as the passion will be the phone to end the dominance of the Apple iPhone. According to ZDNet, TecCrunch explains this in greater detail. The latest smartphone from HTC is currently undergoing tests.

Latest reports suggest that the phone will come with a virtual keyboard like the iPhone and will be powered by the powerful 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processor, we just hope that the Android OS can make full use of its power.

The 4.3-inch capacitive display has a resolution of 480×800, so should offer superb quality. It seems that HTC has now come full circle; they were the first manufacturer to supply a handset running on the then new Google Android OS. They claimed that the G1 would compete with the iPhone, and we all know how that turned out.

The decision for HTC to do away with a physical keyboard is something that Motorola should have done with its Droid; this not only helps to keep weight down but also does not compromise its design. If rumors are true, then we could see the HTC Dragon released as early as January 2010.
