Black Friday 2009 ads: Walmart’s change of heart

Walmart have finally made their Black Friday 2009 ads officially available, that was after a minor altercation with a website for uploading an ad scan without the retail giant’s permission. At least now, shoppers will be able to search through Wal-Mart’s ads to see if there is anything in there that they may want to queue up hours for.

We recently mentioned that Wal-Mart lawyers were threatening legal action against those who has leaked the ad by uploading a scan of it. However, on Wednesday, Wal-Mart had allowed for the release of its entire Black Friday 2009 Ad.

CSMonitor.com have been asking themselves why Wal-Mart had the change of heart. The reason was simple, they love to use the power of the Internet for their continued success, but they did not want to show their hand too early. At least the issue has been resolved and we finally know all the products on offer.

When these websites leaked the images of the ads, it did not take long for these deals to start appearing on websites. Wal-Mart knew that it was too late by then and started to confirm some of those deals.

Jon Vincent, the founder of BlackFriday.info was involved in lengthy talks with Wal-Mart to ask permission for a wider release of the ad. However, he did not get anywhere. It was not until CNN called Wal-Mart, that they finally agreed to allow the publication of their ad.
