T-Mobile staff that sold data, only tip of iceberg
Filed under: Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

We mentioned in an earlier post that an employee of T-Mobile UK sold customers personal data and sold it to brokers, who then passed the information on to other rival phone companies in the UK. It has been revealed that this could be the tip of the iceberg.
T-Mobile customers now know the reason why they have been getting a high number of cold calls just recently. They have been trying to offer them better deals as their contracts are set to expire soon on T-Mobile.
Information Commissioner Christopher Graham is not happy with the employee who sold this information on and said, “those responsible drove a coach and horses through the data protection act.”
We also mentioned in our previous post that Graham wanted the employee to face a jail sentence or a heavy fine, this would hopefully deter somebody doing anything similar in the future. According to Channel4.com, they suspect that the number of people affected by this leak of personal data could be in the millions.
