Sapphire Radeon HD 5970: Hands-on with 2GB Video Card
By: Peter Chubb | November 18, 2009 | Leave a CommentIf you are in the market for a new video card, then the Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 is now available. This new card with its 2GB of memory has been undergoing an extensive hands-on review that we have come to admire from TweakTown. So let us see what they have to say about this latest NVIDIA card.
They begin by saying that NVIDIA may have shot themselves in the foot with releasing this card just a day after its new GT 200 series low-end model, people are on tight budgets so could warm to the cheaper model. However, high-end models are where it’s at, so let us embrace the new HD 5970.
This dual GPU is a replacement for the old dual card from ATI, the HD 5970 offers what the X2 and the GTX 295 does but with one main difference, the name on the card is NVIDIA. This GPU is different in another way as well; it is much faster than those other models.
After TweakTown did all of their benchmark tests, they were left with their final thoughts. The verdict is that they were not surprised by the results, the technical specs that was given to them for the new video card were much the same as their results showed, they did add that the performance level was never going to be as good as the HD 5870 in CrossFire.
The Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 certainly performs well and is one of those cards that is fun, but will not give you that rollercoaster ride that other cards do. Visit TweakTown for a full review.
