OCZ Colossus 1TB SSD gets official

Solid-state-drives are becoming more and more popular these days, however currently there are a couple of things holding them back, one problem is the pricing, the other is the capacity limits.

It looks like OCZ may well have addressed the second issue as their OCZ Colossus SSD is available with a capacity of up to 1TB, however as you would expect prices are still high.

The Colossus has a 3.5 inch form factor and offers some pretty impressive stats, it offers a maximum read speed of up to 260MB/s and a maximum write speed of up to 220MB/s.

It looks like there will be four capacities released, the 120 (128GB) will sell for $300, the 250 (256GB) will sell for $650, the 500 (512GB) will sell for $1,200 and the 1TB (1024GB) will be available for $2,200.

As you can see SSD’s are still very expensive, however things should progress quickly from here, perhaps next year we will see much more affordable prices, you can see full details on SlashGear.
