Nokia NSeries OS: Out with Symbian, in with Maemo by 2012
By: Alan Ng | November 18, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that Nokia are planning to phase out the Symbian OS within their NSeries handsets, in favor of switching to the up and coming linux-based Maemo operating system.
As stated over at BGR, Nokia still have a number of NSeries handsets to release which will run on the Symbian OS, but after that, it is thought that they will proceed forward with Maemo – the OS of choice for the delayed Nokia N900 smartphone / internet tablet.
However, BGR points out that Nokia will not be getting rid of Symbian all together, as Eseries and the new Xseries will still be supported – making this a NSeries-only affair it seems.
What do you think about this? Do you think Maemo is the answer for Nokia?
