Playstation Store: Metal Gear Solid coming this week to PS3

Good news for Playstation 3 owners now as Konami has confirmed that the classic PS1 title Metal Gear Solid, will be coming to be Playstation Store this Thursday, as part of the weekly update.

As reported from Eurogamer, Metal Gear Solid was the PS1 game that really started the ball rolling for Snake and Co. so you should definitely consider picking up this one.

However, be prepared to pay £7.99 for it as it won’t be receiving the usual £3.99 treatment that other PS1 classics get. Then again, it IS Metal Gear Solid, so we can forgive Konami for this one.

Let us know if you’ll be picking up the game this Thursday. More details over at Eurogamer.

Fingers crossed it’ll be the superior “Two Snakes” remake that we got on the Gamecube!

£7.99 for a PSOne Classic is a joke! Most new PSN games aren’t even worth that – it’s all thanks to SCEE’s ludicrous policy to convert $9.99 to €9.99 to £7.99. Pricing should be inline with some of their other releases which use a more reasonable (and accurate) $9.99 to €7.99 to £6.29.

If MS have managed to fix $9.99 to £6.80 for the last 4 years, what is SCEE’s problem?! And what happened to the idea that using currency instead of points was a BENEFIT for consumers? I see it as a huge negative for ripped-off SCEE customers…

£8 for an old game which has had no updating/remastering is asking too much IMO, and I think Mike Kebby will be getting a lot of stick on the EU Blog when he announces to Europe they’ll have to pay €10 to play MGS again…

Brilliant. The PS1 selection on the Euro PSN has been terrible. The fact it took SCEE so long to bring it onto our store is silly. Not sure I’d get it because its one of the few PS1 games that I’ve kept hold of. But it is convenient on the hard drive.

As for the price, £8 for a game that puts the vast majority of PSN games to shame (despite it’s graphics) isn’t all that bad in my opinion. That is, if I didn’t still own a copy.

I agree, £8 isnt too bad for a such a title as MGS…

There are not too many decent titles on the PSN as far as I can remember, Trine was the last one I liked.

So I still think a good deal of PS3 users will fork out the extra money for this PS1 classic.

I just bought this and copied it to my PSP. But the sound stutters really badly in the intro scene and there are annoying bugs that were not on the original such as random noises much louder than the normal sounds in game.

I hope I can get a refund as I’m very disappointed.
