Orange’s deal with Twitter: Free SMS updates

According to a recent article on TechRadar it seems that a deal has been reached between Orange (the UK carrier) and Twitter.

This deal should allow Orange customers to receive free SMS updates which will contain information regarding your Twitter account.

Prior to this Twitter stopped offering free SMS updates in the UK, the reason behind the termination is said to be due to the cost of offering the service.

It seems that the growing popularity of Twitter has really increased the appeal of the free service, therefore carriers are keen to re-offer the service.
