Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Download and AIR 2 Multi-touch Capabilities

Adobe have now made their Flash Player 10.1 available for download, the new software is supported on Windows, Linux and Intel-based Mac’s. webOS support will follow in a few months time, for now those with a Palm Pre or Pixi will just have to wait.

According to Engadget, the only version to include H.264 video hardware-based video acceleration is on Windows. Adobe have also announced the future release of AIR 2 beta, this system will allow developers the use of multi-touch capabilities on future apps. For a demonstration of this view the video below, you will see that Adobe is using the HP TouchSmart.

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is the first release from the Open Screen Project and offers greater performance with your Web browsing experience, such as launching applications and watching videos. Smartbook, Netbooks, Smarphones as well as Internet tablets are all supported by Flash 10.1, all expect the Apple iPhone.

The download launched today is only a public prerelease version, and allows developers to test their future products. Adobe says that this will allow them to get early feedback so that they can work on enhancing and improving the compatibility with Flash 10.1.
