We have recently learned that shipments of the Nokia N900 have now started; this is the first Nokia handset to run on the new Maemo 5 software. The latest handset from Nokia will hit retail stores very soon in Europe and will cost about €500. The N900 has some tough competition, as it has been released around the same time as the Motorola Droid, not that sales have been that great.
The Nokia N900 had its public launch back in August, since then fans of the N Series tablet have been waiting for the day until the tablet come phone is released, and that has now come. Nokia have managed to offer a device with full browsing as you would get from a computer and incorporate that to a cell phone.
According to pr-canada.net, the ARM Cortex-A8 processor powers the Nokia N900, the handset also has 1GB of memory to draw from to help make applications run much quicker. We mentioned above that the N900 works just like a computer, this means that you can browse the Internet while you have a number of other applications running in the background.
The camera on board is only a 5-megapixel, but it has the advantage of a Carl Zeiss lens. The tablet comes with 32GB of internal storage; this can be expanded with up to 48GB with an external memory card. View an unboxing video of the Nokia N900 here.
