
AMD Beat Intel: Supercomputers
By: Jamie Pert | November 16, 2009 | 1 CommentSoon the official list of the top 500 supercomputers will be revealed to us, this list is created twice a year and will be revealed to us at the SC09 conference which will take place in Portland Oregon.
According to a recent blog posted on ComputerWorld it seems that AMD have outdone Intel this time, according to sources the top four supercomputers are all AMD-based.
The supercomputer which has come top of the list is a Cray supercomputer, this supercomputer is based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and is said to be an upgraded Jaguar supercomputer which now boasts a speed of “1.759 petaflops per second from its 224,162 cores.”
