3TB Hard Drives: Coming Soon

3TB Hard Drives: Coming Soon

By: Jamie Pert | November 16, 2009 | 3 Comments

Its not been a huge amount of time since we first saw hard drive manufacturers first release 2TB drives, however there is now speculation surrounding the release of 3TB hard drives.

According to the CEO of Drobo (Dr Geoff Barrall) it seems that Drobo will be offering 3TB drives by April 2010, within Drobos are Western Digital hard drives, therefore it shouldn’t be too long until we hear something from them.

It is thought that a 3GB drive would require 4 platters, each platter would offer 750GB’s of storage, given the growth there has been in hard disk storage market these past few years this shouldn’t be too much trouble for hard drive manufacturers.

As we hear official information from Western Digital it is uncertain exactly when 3TB drives will become available, we will keep you posted. You can find out more information by checking out SlipperyBrick.

hurry zie hell up, we in Germany need 3TB for our High definition kinky boom bam, bdsm movies. Now that they are in High-Def I find 2TB fills too quickly and is no longer efficient to run so many freakin' hard drives. Hurry up little Japanese men and Hurry up big American Man I don't care who is first just bring me the 3TB in a silver platter you pigfishes!
