3TB Hard Drives: Coming Soon

Its not been a huge amount of time since we first saw hard drive manufacturers first release 2TB drives, however there is now speculation surrounding the release of 3TB hard drives.
According to the CEO of Drobo (Dr Geoff Barrall) it seems that Drobo will be offering 3TB drives by April 2010, within Drobos are Western Digital hard drives, therefore it shouldn’t be too long until we hear something from them.
It is thought that a 3GB drive would require 4 platters, each platter would offer 750GB’s of storage, given the growth there has been in hard disk storage market these past few years this shouldn’t be too much trouble for hard drive manufacturers.
As we hear official information from Western Digital it is uncertain exactly when 3TB drives will become available, we will keep you posted. You can find out more information by checking out SlipperyBrick.
