Windows 7 was inspired by Apple Mac OS X – Microsoft
By: Alan Ng | November 12, 2009 | 2 CommentsWe definitely didn’t see this one coming. A Microsoft official has admitted that his company took inspiration from design ideas in Apple Mac OS X, for use with Windows 7 – Microsoft’s latest OS.
According to this article from AppleInsider, the news was revealed by Simon Aldous, partner group manager with Microsoft.
When speaking recently he stated: “What we’ve tried to do with Windows 7 — whether it’s traditional format or in a touch format — is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics.”
As users of both operating systems will know, one key similarity between both is the new taskbar, with Windows 7 and Snow Leopard offering unique customization options within the taskbar.
What do you think of his comments? We didn’t think a Microsoft official would admit to a statement as bold as that. You can hear more from Aldous over at AppleInsider.
