Following on from our earlier post, which informed you about a Microsoft official’s statement about Windows 7 being ‘inspired’ by Apple’s Mac OS X, Microsoft have now retracted the quote and have made a fresh statement on the matter.

According to AppleInsider, Brandon LeBlanc from the official Windows Blog has labelled the quote ‘inaccurate’, adding that comments from the official in question, Simon Aldous, were ”inaccurate and uninformed” and that he was not involved in ‘any aspect’ of designing Windows 7. Ouch.

He then cleared up the situation by reiterating that Microsoft ‘were not’ influenced by Mac OS X over design aspects.
