Intel Arrandale CPUs: Release date and price
By: Peter Chubb | November 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentIntel has been planning to launch three new chips for ultra-thin notebooks, they have now decided on a name, shipping dates and prices. The Intel Arrandale is a 32nm dual-core CPU; the three of these are the 1.2GHz Core i7-640UM, the 1.06GHz Core i7-620UM and the 1.06GHz Core i5-520UM. The price is US$305, US$278 and US$241, respectively. These new processors are due for release in the Q3 2010.
Engadget learned from DigiTimes that Intel are to launch a number of other CPUs first, the dual-core Core 2 Duo SU9600, SU9400 and SU7300, single-core Celeron 743 CPUs from the Montevina platform and finally the Pentium SU4100 and SU2300CPUs. We still wait for conformation and release dates on these.
Intel are also reported to be launching two new Calpella based CPUs, also in the third quarter of 2010. The first half of 2010 will see Intel launch its upcoming Pine Trail-M platform; they aim to keep the price of the netbook at below $500, which seems to be the magic number for netbooks.
January will see Intel announce its new 32nm CPUs, they have not decided on a final name, but its codename is Clarkdale. Included in the range is the Core i5-670 and Core i5-661. The price for these is US$176-284 in thousand unit tray-quantities.
