HTC HD2 Review: Windows Mobile 6.5, at a new level
Filed under: Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

One of the writers at SlashGear has now been using the HTC HD2 handset for a week, he has recently posted an article regarding how the handset has been on whole over this week.
Usually reviews are based on a days usage, however this doesn’t always give a proper indication as to how the handset will suit your day to day life, therefore this article should give you a better indication as to whether the handset is a success or not.
The HD2 is quite unique for a Windows Mobile 6.5 handset, this is because it features a capacitive touchscreen and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, the handset also uses the popular HTC Sense UI which is displayed on its massive 4.3 inch display.
All in all SlashGear’s article seems pretty pleased with the handset, the handset is said to have taken Widows Mobile 6.5 to another level, to see there fully detailed article follow this link.

I see problems with the HD2.
For starters, it’s the only Windows Mobile phone to have a “capacitive” multi-touch screen, for finger touch. Normally that would be a good thing. Problem is, the underlying operating system of the phone, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile, was designed for use with a stylus pen, rather than multi-touch. That’s why most of the ‘WinMo’ phones come with a stylus pen. HTC has added a multi-touch front screen to the phone, covering over the Windows Mobile underneath. But sooner or later you end up delving into the old menus of Windows Mobile, with small icons that are difficult to use accurately with the fingers. HTC has obviously tried to enlarge the screen to compensate, as the screen is humongous and difficult to put in your pocket.
The other thing is that Windows Mobile is being phased out by most manufacturers. Instead they’re making phones that run Google’s Android software, which is more capable, and has a better interface designed for multi-touch.
Zek many may feel this device is an htc with winmo capabilities, whilst others
that need winmo should only buy this phone, as it is the only decnt 6.5 phone out there. most of the interface will work ok with your fingers , and the stuff that doesnt well make syre you carry a golf tee or stylus in your pocket.
googles android is an iphone competing software not really worth mentioning here.. windows mobile ofcourse is being upgraded to 7 soon which will(should) be multitouch compatable and the htc hd2 has the specs to be upgraded.. winmo will be competing more with nokias n900 platform more than android and iphone.. maemo is gonna be the problem to this phone and windows mobile not android
