Details regarding the Motorola Droid’s first weekend of sales have recently shown up on SlashGear, although they are far shy of Apple’s iPhone launches, they are still extremely positive.
SlashGear’s article suggests that Motorola sold around 100,00 Droid handsets during the first weekend. Up until the last month or so Motorola have struggled to impact the market heavily, however the Droid may be the lift they need.
Currently experts are predicting that Motorola will sell a million handsets during Q4 2009, not only is this great for Motorola but it is also good news for Verizon and the Android OS.

100,000 is quite a low number, and is on par with the Palm Pre, i.e.; not good, especially given the huge marketing push by Motorola & Verizon.
I also think it will be interesting to see the number of returns.
I’ll bet more than that as thousands (including myself) ordered online to avoid waiting for the rebate. Many of us have not even gotten their phones yet.
I’m kinda surprised that they sold that many. The thing’s a clunker.
