Motorola Droid and HTC Eris Firmware Updates on Way

When a new handset is launched they are often plagued by a number of issues with its software, this often leads to a rushed firmware update. Owners of the new Motorola Droid and the HTC Eris have recently learned that a new firmware update is coming, but there is nothing wrong with the devices.

How often do you hear of a product having a firmware update so soon after release but not have an issue. According to Engadget, Verizon are to launch this new update to try and get the most out of the devices, which is part of their testing program.

Verizon Wireless already knows of a long line of issues that they wish to rectify, but none that users will know about. There is a seven page list of updates for the HTC Eris and 5 pages of updates for the Motorola Droid, which is running the Google Android 2.0 OS.

Both handsets will be fixed with two firmware updates; these will be in December and January. However, going by Verizon’s track record we would not hold our breath on that date. For now owners can enjoy two of the finest handsets on the market.
