Modern Warfare 2 sales and U.S. price comparison

Well, today is officially Modern Warfare 2 day as the game is now available worldwide in retailers for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC, finally putting an end to months of hype and speculation.

Following on from the ridiculous price cuts that the game has been receiving in UK supermarkets, we wondered how the prices compare to that seen over in the U.S, as it is usually the case where UK owners end up getting ripped off.

As you probably have heard, Sainsburys and Morrisons in the UK are selling the game for an astonishing £26, completely cutting out the likes of Play, Game and Gamestation who are selling it for £45 or nearabouts.

Over in the U.S, the likes of GameStop, Walmart and Best Buy are all selling MW2 for just under $60, which works out around £35 – meaning that the UK is actually coming out on top for the cheapest price around.

Whether this will contribute heavily to sales though, remains to be seen. We’ll just have to wait until some launch figures are released soon.
