Google announced along with a host of other companies that they are to offer free WiFi at 32 airports in the U.S. This normally paid service will be free for two months from now until January 15. This program for free Wi-Fi is to help promote Google’s long list of products.
When customers log on to the airports Wi-Fi network, they will be asked if they wish to try one of Google’s products, they will also be given the choice to set their homepage as Google.com as well as being asked if they wish to donate any money to a charity. They can decline all of these is they wish.
Google have said that they will match any donations given up to $250,000. ZDNet also informs us that the airport network who generates the highest amount of money raised per passenger will receive $15,000. They will then be allowed to offer that gift to the local nonprofit charity of their choice.
According to USA Today, Google are partnering with Virgin America to offer free Wi-Fi access while on board one of their planes, this will also run for the same period as the first offer. For more information on this, visit Freeholidaywifi.com.
