The launch of the Apple iPhone two years ago and the recent launch of the Motorola Droid looks like another nail in the coffin for Windows Mobile, this latest smartphone release could finally be what kills off Microsoft’s Mobile OS; this is according to an article from Cnet.
It is no secret that Windows Mobile is losing popularity and the launch of Google Android 2.0 is certainly showing that Windows Mobile is looking a little tired. Cnet admit that the popularity of a product is reliant on the media, and they have given a huge amount of buzz to Android 2.0.
Whenever something is getting all the attention, then something will always suffer, and that is Windows Mobile, which many believe has been moved to the has-been pile. SFGate.com reports that at the launch of the Motorola Droid on Friday, Microsoft was nowhere to be seen.
I do worry about Microsoft, they promise so much with a new product and what we get is something totally different. Take Windows 7, this was said to be the best OS yet, much faster and stable. Since installing Windows 7 on my laptop things have been a nightmare for me, it is things like this that could spell the end for Microsoft.
I have finally had enough of Windows; I have a Mac Mini, i use an Apple iPhone and have now ordered my MacBook Air, how many others will be thinking like me?

“how many others will be thinking like me”
Apple products are for snobs ….. people who are not snobs will not go the apple way.
Just like with desktop PCs, some people will love Apple, and a large crowd will want to use a ‘generic’ operating system.
In the smartphone world, many people love to use Apple (the iPhone), and there will also be a ‘generic’ operating system for everyone else. That generic OS is Android, as Microsoft Windows missed the smartphone market.
I think the iPhone / Android smartphone market will be good. The choice between iPhone’s closed and vertical integration, versus Android’s open-source model will offer something for everyone. The other smaller platforms (Palm WebOS and Windows Mobile) will fade away and eventually be discontinued. I would avoid buying a Palm or Windows phone for that reason.
This has fan boy written all over it! Windows 7 rocks!
