Maclaren Stroller Recall: Children’s Fingertips Amputated

News broke a couple of days ago that Maclaren were to issue a stroller recall, it is thought that more than one million strollers will be recalled. It is reported that all Maclaren strollers from 1999 to present day will be involved in the recall, but we are still waiting to learn what those model numbers are.

The reason for the recall is due to children’s fingertips getting amputated by the hinge on the affected strollers. According to ABC News, there have been dozens of reports of children’s finger’s getting amputated, as you would imagine, this is a very serious problem.

The problem occurs when unfolding/opening the stroller. The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) have already started to advise parents to stop using these strollers immediately.

They have been told that they will receive a repair kit that should solve the issue. The recall will be announced tomorrow, November 10, 2009, which is when more information will be made available.
