Ikee: First iPhone worm on jailbroken handsets

If you are the owner of an iPhone and live in Australia, then we have some bad news for you. This news only applies to those with a jailbroken iPhone, so most of you can start breathing again. There are reports the Apple iPhone has its first worm called “Ikee.”

You will know if you have been infected by the worm because your wallpaper will change to Rick Astley. According to Graham Cluley’s Blog, there is no confirmation that the worm has spread to the rest of the world, but it is not something that we can rule out.

The worm manages to break into your jailbroken iPhone if you have not changed your password after installing SSH. The worm will then do a search of other iPhones sharing the network and infect them as well.

There are two lessons to be learned here, the first is not to jailbreak your iPhone, the second is to make certain that you change your password and not leave as default.
