Orange stands by iPhone 750MB download cap
By: Peter Chubb | November 6, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe recently mentioned about the data limitations that Orange had set with the iPhone were too excessive, and a number of our readers agreed with this. However, Orange is still defending its 750MB download cap, which many of us find remarkable.
The usage limit could become a major headache for Orange and could very well put consumers off getting the iPhone on Orange. A download limit is a stupid decision for the iPhone, as many users will be going on to websites such as YouTube amongst others, which are certain to take most of the data from your monthly plan.
According to Top 10 Mobile Phones, one site did some calculations and said that the 750MB download cap would only allow for 13 hours of music streaming per month. To get the most from the Apple iPhone, you need to have no download restrictions.
Conor Maples, a spokesperson from Orange said, “We have had iPhone in other European countries for a while now & research shows the average user uses less than 200MB per month.” This has not done anything to try to lure customers away from O2, and the news that the tariffs are almost identical is another own goal for orange.
