Motorola Droid Launch: BlackBerry Storm 2 and Bold 9700 Forgotten

The launch of the Motorola Droid tomorrow, November 6 has been stealing all of the attention in the cell phone market. When you get a phone such as the Droid grabbing the attention, then other new handsets suffer, those handset are the BlackBerry Storm 2, and the Bold 9700.

Do now get us wrong all three handsets are great, but the Motorola Droid has a huge buzz surrounding it for many reasons. One of the those reason is because it is the first Google Android smartphone to come with Google Android 2.0 OS, the second reason is the fact that this is the first Android phone on the Verizon carrier.

PC World admits that the launch of the Motorola Droid could not have come at a worse time for the BlackBerry Storm 2 and Bold 9700. This was RIMs second attempt at trying to offer consumers an alternative to the Apple iPhone, with the launch of the Storm2. It is such a shame because the Storm2 is much improved over the original Storm.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 will also suffer from the launch of the Motorola Droid, the new Bold is now smaller and slimmer than its predecessor and the addition of the trackball instead of the old trackpad was a great touch from RIM.

The problem that both BlackBerry handsets have is its OS, although they come with Blackberry OS 5, this is still no match for the new Google Android 2.0 OS that comes installed on the Droid. For a more detailed look at this, visit PC World
