Apple iPhone 2010: New protoypes with RFID chip support is the future

Some interesting news to report for iPhone fans now, as it has been reported that Apple are working on new iPhone prototypes that will come equipped with hardware support for RFID chips.

As reported from Apple Insider, this means that Apple will be able to make use of RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) support to introduce new features to their iPhone such as touchless technologies and swipe payments using the iPhone – to which Apple has already explored via recent patent filings.

Other possible avenues that Apple could explore is swipe sensing of information kiosks and even day-to-day objects. Then of course, it would come in handy with transit information and visits to places like museums.

If you are interested in reading more on this, there is a full report over at Apple Insider. Let us know what you think about RFID support in the next-generation iPhone.
