Toshiba’s new 1.8 inch Hard Drive: 320GB Capacity

Toshiba have recently revealed three new 1.8 inch hard drives, the new models are the MK1633GSG, MK 2533GSG and MK3233GSG, these drives offer higher capacities and lower noise then previous models.
There drives have capacities of 160GB, 250GB and 320GB, they all have a spindle speed of 5,400rpm and have a 16MB cache, the drives are said to produce 4-5dB less noise then previous models and connect via SATA.
It is thought that these drives will mainly be used in Internet tablets and other portable computers, whether they will be preferred to SSD’s is yet to be seen.
It is thought that these drives will go into mass production in December, until then we will not know a release date or any details regarding pricing, check out SlashGear for more.
