With about a week to go until the launch of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”, developer Infinity Ward must have a big smile on their face following some encouraging news. GameStop has said that the new MW game is a record breaker, but what do they mean by that?
GameStop claim that Modern Warfare 2 will be “the biggest entertainment launch of all time.” They have said this as the game has had the highest number of pre-orders of any title that they have sold in the past. We must be talking some very big numbers here then.
According to USA Today, GameStop is not the only retailer to report high pre-order numbers of MW2 which gets released on November 10; Walmart and Amazon are too. Stores will be opening early on that day and have a number of special events planned.
Walmart are giving the first 20 customers of each of the 2,200 stores selling Modern Warfare 2 a signed copy of the game by Infinity Ward. Amazon are searching for the city who are the craziest for Call of Duty, the winning city with the most per-orders could win $5000, which will be donated to a local charity.
