Orange’s iPhone 3GS: Data Limitations Too Excessive?

Over the last few days there has been quite a lot of hype surrounding the release of the iPhone 3GS on the UK carrier Orange, however upon a closer inspection the data limitations appear to be quite restricting.
Orange have previously claimed that their unlimited data plan allows for up to 750MB per month, however we are now hearing further restrictions.
Other restrictions seem to suggest that Orange may restricting access to other forms of data usage, such as Internet radio, Facebook messaging, streaming and Instant messaging.
Oranges actual terms and conditions read “Not to be used for other activities (eg using your handset as a modem, non-Orange internet based streaming services, voice or video over the internet, instant messaging, peer to peer file sharing, non-Orange internet based video). Should such use be detected notice may be given and Network protection controls applied to all services which Orange does not believe constitutes mobile browsing.”
These restrictions may lock down the data usage so much that it may give you a very cut-down iPhone experience, find out more on SlashGear.
Will all these data-limitations put you off getting an iPhone from Orange?

Indeed it will put me off getting one from orange instead now. I expected orange to not undercut O2’s tariffs, and thats all I was hoping for. The same tariff’s as O2, but on Orange so i could use their far superior 3G network coverage. But Orange have gone and actually made the deal worse than O2’s with this. Whats the point in going with a phone carrier that boasts to have the best 3G network if it doesn’t let you use it fully? Especially with a phone thats very largely internet based!
I just hope they snap out of their senses quickly and lift these excessive limitations before release next week very much like what O2 did with the 200mb Fair usage policy when the very first iPhone was announced.
“Will all these data-limitations put you off getting an iPhone from Orange?”
YES
I have waited patiently for the iPhone to become available on a network that covers my area. But these restrictions are such that they negate all the reasons I had for buying an iPhone.
Sorry Orange and Apple NO SALE.
at the end of the day if that did happen, (to cut off ones data) for those who have a contract iPhone can refuse paying their bill. Simple as!
Facebook is one of orange’s websites they promote on pay as you go, free internet to facebook and other social websites… WTH are they on about saying if someone uses it too much, half the people live off them sites same with internet messaging. Does this include if you have a social network iPhone app or a instant messenger app?
Unless Orange drop this 750mb fair usage policy and go unlimited like o2 I will move over to o2 as soon as possible to get the iPhone. Everyone in my position feels the same.
This could kill the sales for Orange. What is the point of having an ‘always connected’ phone if your network restricts you.
As far as the blocking of apps such as facebook and youtube, this would be a total non-starter. I cannot think of anybody who would want an iPhone without some access to these sites (and those of a similar nature).
