    Same problem.
    Windows 7, 64bit
I visit apple and download itunes, It downloads iTunes64Setup.exe. So their server knows my OS and version

when you install, it installs by default to the (x86) folder.
when It runs, it runs under 32 bit.
syncing is a problem with my iphone 3G. sometimes it tells me that a phone is already synced and thinks mine is a new phone, other times it sees it but the sync fails half way thru. frustrating. Have uninstalled, reinstalled and tried multiple scenarios. BUG

I upgraded to windows 7 from vista. My upgrade failed and I figured out that i needed Uninstall Itunes to complete the upgrade which i have. I am now going to attempt to install itunes after the Windows 7 upgrade and see how it goes.

Yeah, my BRAND NEW JUST OUT OF THE BOX laptop froze when I installed iTunes, 64-bit. Windows HIGHLY suggested that I install the 64-bit, so I’m pretty sure that’s what I should have done. Now I can’t get into my computer because when I type in my password, it says it’s wrong and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it’s correct. Since I just bought it yesterday, I think it’s going back to the store. I’m seriously considering buying the Mac I wanted in the first place.

My problem is with syncing my phone. I’m running a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit on a brand new machine that has a lot of power (quad-core processor, 8 GB of RAM, etc.). When I drop new items into a playlist, often it hangs, and then crashes. The only way I’ve succeeded in getting it to sync up is to drop the items in, and quickly click on the link to bring up the iPhone itself (not the playlists or other areas), and then quickly click ‘sync’.

I’m having trouble synching my iTouch 3G…the synchronization starts but hangs up early on and I eventually get a timed out error. Now having difficulty getting the computer to recognized the Touch.

I had first installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7; that worked fine for two months. I decided to do a clean reinstall of the 64 bit, and that’s when my problems began.

I also upgraded from Vista to windows 7 and running the 64 bit version. I have an old iphone 3G and had got the newer 3GS and went to sync it, it starts off ok then it crashes my whole iTunes and I also get a “time out” error and a “unable to copy to disk” error! VERY FRUSTRATING!!! Have had an iPhone since they first came out! It does me no good to own one if I can’t even put my music on to it! Amazingly I as able to sync all of my apps, and 1 playlist of about 25 songs of my 2,000! I was so excited to upgrade from vista to windows 7 and from a 8gig iPhone 3G to a 32gig iPhone 3GS…but now…Not So Much:-(((((!!!!!!

I’m using iTunes 9 with an iPhone 3G on Win 7 32 bit – can’t even open iTunes without it bringing down the whole system (ie. to the point that the laptop battery has to come out). Computer was running perfectly fine until iTunes is installed, and then it becomes a complete disaster.

Not a Bill Gates problem, more like an Apple marketing tactic to get you to buy their hardware – ‘it works with Apple, so it must be Microsoft’s fault’

It’s about time that Apple is forced to allow iPod’s and iPhone’s to be synced with any product. I’ve had a multitude of MP3 players and phones that have worked flawlessly with Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc, but have always had issues with iPod’s.

I am having endless hassles with syncing my iPhone to my computer. I have just bought a brand new Intel i7 core computer with Windows 7. I deligently backed everything up from my old laptop onto an external hardrive. I installed iTunes for windows 7 with 64 bit and …. my phone will not sync. I also have a phone that will not play music – it has been totally wiped clean. Apple have told me that my phone has established a relationship with my old computer and that I was to back everything up and reset my phone to factory settings. I did that and it is still not working. I cant even get my phone to sync as I keep getting a 6999 error and then my entire computer crashes. Aaaaaaah! I am desperatly looking for a solution. Is it a Windows problem or is it iTunes?

Yes, I’ve got the exact same problem. New Dell laptop with i7 processor, iPhone, iTune 9 – 64 bit version. It kept erasing my iPhone and I spent multiple calls with Apple “experts” telling me they had never seen such an issue before. Then I come to the web and find hundreds of posts about this synching issue. For now, I have rebuilt my iPhone and gone back to my old desktop, running XP and a 32-bit version of iTunes 9 and all is well, but I need to get the iPhone synched to the new laptop. Arrrrrggh!!

same problems over here, acer aspire with Q8200 intel quad core, windows 7 64 bit.. time out and not possible to copy to disc…..

I am also having the same issue, makes the iPhone useless for music, podcast, movies etc.

This has been an issue for way tooo long.

I have windose7, 64 bit PC can I install, iTune.

  • Shiny

Same problem. Brand new HP Pavilion dv6 Intel quad core i7, windows 7 64 bit. During sync, itunes is able to transfer some of the files, but after it gets through a few, it stops copying files and eventually gives a time out error.

You need to talk to Mr. Jobs not Mr Gates.

Two problems. (1) Sometimes sync to my iphone fails with exception error (2) Quicktime won't run – can't find a dll file. I wish I had never upgraded to iTunes 9
