VMware Fusion 3: Launch problems after release

It was only on Tuesday that we told you about the launch of VMware’s new Fusion 3 software, but we are already hearing reports that customers have been encountering problems with the software, which VMware have said is down to high customer demand.

As reported from ComputerWorld, VMware Fusion 3 is available to customers both in-store and online via download. Customers choosing the download option have been complaining about ‘timeout’ issues, along with problems with licensing.

In order to satisfy customers while VMware find a solution to the problem, they have begun to issue out keys for a 30-day trial program, while the licensing and upgrade problems are sorted out properly.

Have you purchased VMware recently? If so, let us know if you have experienced any of the problems mentioned above.

Sounds like we have some Parallels users/company men in the house today

I use VMware product for cross-platform development. I have been with Vmware Workstation and Fusion since version 1. I have never before experienced problems with upgrades, until Fusion 3I have just seen improvements. After the upgrade my 4 GB memory MacPro freezes for long periods, the virtual machine (Window XP) does not repaint windows when moved to another position and freezes too. The unity mode is completely useless. The solution that worked for me was to downgrade back to Fusion 2.6, which was very stable and offered all that I needed. So my adventure with Fusion 3 has been so far just a waste of time and money.
