These past few weeks seem to have been riddled with product recalls, yesterday we posted regarding Belkin’s SurgeMaster recall, and recently we have also seen the recall of portable DVD players and Acer Laptops.
The latest product recall is being carried out by Sony, they have been forced to recall laptop power adapters which apparently run the risk of breaking down over time and becoming a shock hazard.
All in all there are said to be 69,000 VAIO computer AC adapters which are being recalled, the model number of these power adapters is VGP-AC19V, these were supplied with a wide range of devices including docking stations, VAIO AIO computers, “VCG-LT and VGC-JS2 series computers, and VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1 machines”.
There have been four reports of the fault so far, however no injuries have been sustained, if you are in doubt as to whether your power adapter is at risk I would recommend contacting Sony Support, check out SlipperyBrick for more information.
Was your power adapter recalled? How was Sony’s customer service?

The adapters are being recalled because the insulation inside the adapters can break down over time and lead to a shock hazard. Sony says that four reports of the adapters short circuiting have been reported with no injuries. All reports were from outside of the US. Sony will replace the adapters free of charge and asks all users to stop using the adapters immediately.
